On Tuesday 26 August, Gumdale State School proudly marked a major milestone: 90 years of learning, growing, and community spirit.

Our celebrations began with a special whole school assembly, where we reflected on the school's incredible journey over the past nine decades. Ms Claire Chester, a current teacher, gave a beautiful speech about her passion for teaching and being part of the Gumdale community.We were also honoured to welcome Ms Shonel Balsillie, a proud past student, former teacher and current Chairperson of the Gumdale State School Student Council. Ms Balsillie delivered a speech about school life in the past and how it differs today, offering a fascinating glimpse into Gumdale’s history and evolution.

After the formalities, the fun really kicked off with our Colour & Slime Fun Run. Students burst through clouds of colour and slime with big smiles and unstoppable energy. It was a messy, memorable event that brought joy to all who participated and watched. Thanks to our incredible community, we also raised an amazing $53,609.72 through the Fun Run! These funds will go directly towards the development of a new playground for our students to enjoy for years to come.

The excitement continued with our 90th Anniversary Disco, where the school hall lit up with music, laughter and dancing. Students sang and danced their hearts out, making it a day to remember.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all our special guests, including past teachers, local members, past students and our generous sponsors. Your presence and support helped make this milestone unforgettable.

Thank you to our P&C for organising such a fantastic Black Tie Gala. The night was elegant, seamless, and a true celebration of our school community. We appreciate everything you do to support our school.
