Instrumental Music Program 2020-2022 // Expression of Interest

Beginning in Year 4, we offer a three year program of group instrumental lessons on percussion, woodwind instruments and brass instruments. As students progress in these lessons and build more skill on their instrument, they will participate in the Beginner Band and group performance activities such as Band Week and Assembly performances. The Beginner Band will rehearse before school weekly. Click here to view a fantastic introductory instrument demonstration.

The selection process will begin with an in-class aural (melodic and rhythmic) music aptitude test of all Year 3 students, conducted by Ms Slater. Students with higher levels of music aptitude will then undergo further testing on specific instruments with Mrs Thomas. Please understand that numbers for our Instrumental Program are limited by several factors including the goal to create a band that is balanced across all instruments.

The first round of offer letters and an information booklet will be sent home before the end of Term 3. If required, a second round of offers will take place before the start of the Instrumental Program early in Term 1, 2020.
